About the Opportunity:

Gaia Talent is partnering with a well-established Cork-based consultancy to find an experienced Biodiversity Lead. This is a rare opportunity for a senior ecologist to take the next step in their career and lead biodiversity strategy and delivery across a wide range of impactful projects.


Location: Cork (with hybrid and flexible working options available)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead biodiversity and ecology input on diverse planning and development projects across Ireland.
  • Ensure full compliance with local Irish legislation and planning frameworks.
  • Oversee ecological surveys, impact assessments (EIAs, NIS, AA), and biodiversity strategies.
  • Mentor junior ecologists and contribute to team development.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results.
  • Drive innovation and best practice in ecological consultancy.


About You:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in ecology or biodiversity-related consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish environmental legislation and planning policy.
  • Proven track record of delivering biodiversity-focused projects.
  • Confident communicator with experience engaging clients and stakeholders.
  • Ambitious, organised, and ready to take on a leadership role.
