Job Summary:

There are other options out there in the ecology field than becoming a cog in the multi-disciplinary consultancy machine… but not many that offer the opportunity to start up your own team and drive it forward! This role has come about as a landscape architecture and urban design practice client of ours are looking to bring in the vast amount of work they have in-house.

Currently delivering some of the UK’s largest residential schemes (key projects include three 6000+ dwelling developments across the midlands) our client are looking to develop their service offering to include ecological consultancy.

If you are looking to expand your experience leading both of major projects and a small team, then this is for you. The best part about their current situation is that they are very open what they are looking for, and can accommodate an ecology lead in any of the above locations.

However, they are looking for someone who wants to contribute to the wider team, and will take a collaborative approach to work, teaming up with the landscape architects in the office to ensure a holistic approach. A Warwickshire base would be the most conducive to this, so this is the preferred option.

So why this particular consultancy?

You’ll be joining a young and dynamic practice who have grown successfully since their foundation in 2012. They are forward thinking and innovate in their approach to project delivery and encourage all team members to adopt this way of thinking. You will have the opportunity to play a key role in the development of the ecological service offering, as the company look to provide even more environmental services for their future clients.

They are prepared to offer an attractive package to the right consultant, should this be an important aspect. You will also be afforded the opportunity to recruit your immediate team from the off.

The role?

You will work closely with landscape and urban design specialists to lead and manage a busy and varied workload. As part of your role you’ll have the opportunity to get out and about, undertaking protected species surveys and assessments, Phase 1 habitat surveys and ecological Clerk of Works/Watching briefs. You’ll be the first point of contact for ecological technical enquires from clients so you should be confident in (and enjoy!) a client facing role.

To be successful in this post you’ll have an ecological degree with full IEEM membership and previously have worked in a senior ecologist position within a consultancy. Our client are keen to be open-minded about this appointment. They are looking for an individual who shares their way of thinking and attitude to project delivery.
