My client is a local London council that is looking for a Development Control Engineer to work on a temp to perm opportunity.

To contribute to the overall Highway Authority response to planning enquires and applications ensuring that suitable arrangements are put in place to mitigate any adverse effects and maximise street scene improvement.
To ensure that all highway projects dealt with, from developers and others, meet the council’s highway design standards by managing their progress through design review process, ensuring a high quality of public realm.

* To manage Highway Authority response to planning enquiries and applications.
* To contribute to Highway Authority response to planning enquiries and applications of a major nature.
* To manage the council’s design review process for all projects allocated and ensure their compliance with the Council’s highway design standards.
* To prepare contract documentation for procurement of consultants and contractors
* To manage and supervise contractors and consultants to the Council to ensure standards are met and manage claims and certification on individual projects.
* Represent the Council and give evidence at public enquiries and other hearings where necessary.
* To coordinate issues and liaison with TfL on Highways Network issues and legal agreements.To provide information to Councillors, businesses and members of the public in relation to the status of public and highway land.
* Undertake other appropriate duties that may be assigned from time to time.
* To liaise with relevant officers in other divisions/departments and with appropriate external bodies (e.g. Metropolitan Police, Public Utilities, Fire Brigade, TfL, DTLR To act as the main highways point of contact for Network Planning issues
* To co-ordinate, in conjunction with colleagues, development works with the Statutory Undertakers, Transport for London and the Borough’s own planned works to minimise traffic and parking disruption and to submit any required permit or noticing for events to the street works register.
* To use computer and other IT equipment required in carrying out the duties of the post.
