Exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic EIA specialist at Senior grade to join one of the UK’s leading independent, integrated Planning and Design consultancies. You will be working on a wide range of exciting projects and much more than purely doing EIA. You will also be delivering on sustainability, auditing and ESG work too. Associates is working exclusively with this prestigious firm to fulfil a key role within their established environmental team in London. The position is London office, where the successful candidate will be joining a diverse office specialising in Planning, Urban Design, Environmental Planning, Landscape Planning and Architecture.
Due to a continually growing work load, my client’s Environmental Planning team has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior or aspiring Environmental Planner to join their team.
The team operates nationwide and provides leading environmental planning services to the residential, commercial, energy and infrastructure sectors.
Do you have a broad technical knowledge, a solid understanding of environmental impact assessment best practice and how this applies to the UK Planning system. Proven experience of all stages of the EIA process is essential (screening, scoping, EIA management and co-ordination, preparation of Environmental Statements (ES) and post-submission/determination experience is desirable).
In this key role within the team you will be responsible for multiple technical disciplines and the delivery of a complex and highly scrutinised documents.
You should have excellent written skills, be a team player, have the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and be able to maintain quality under pressure.

Key Responsibilities of the Role Include
• Contributing to planning projects by managing and co-ordinating Environmental Impact Assessments for a range of developments
• Undertaking site visits
• Producing documents, letters and reports for all stages of the EIA process, and other related assessment work, from inception through to completion whilst providing a quality and timely service to clients
• Producing high quality written reports and the ability to review other technical documents for planning alignment, quality and robustness against the EIA Regulations
• Management of the EIA process from inception to completion including writing the ES introductory and concluding chapters, preparing the Non-Technical Summary
• Liaising with and managing other professionals, for example, landscape architects, transport engineers, architects, Local Authority representatives
• Attendance at project meetings and leading EIA team meetings
• Reviewing ES technical chapters and managing and delivering the project to programme and budget
• Providing regular briefings to the project Partner or Director responsible for the service
• Providing internal and external training as required and contribute to marketing initiatives
• Developing client relationships and repeat work

Ideal Experience
• A relevant degree and membership of a relevant professional institution
• Have a solid technical background in at least one specialist discipline, i.e. contamination, due diligence, socio-economics, etc
• Have proven experience of all stages of the EIA process
• Have a good knowledge of the planning system/process
• Have experience in the Strategic Environmental Assessment/Sustainability Appraisal process
• Have EIA project management experience
