One of the UK’s leading environmental and engineering consultancies is seeking an experienced environmental professional to join their national team in their Cornwall office. My client has an existing engineering presence within the region and through this appointment is looking to strengthen their international environmental reputation within the market place.

Role:

If you have experience of working in multi-disciplinary technical teams to coordinate EIA deliverables, and SIA work, then we’d like to hear from you. You will have exposure to a diverse workload, delivering to development clients within Property & Development, Infrastructure & Utilities and Mining & Minerals. Working closely alongside the Regional Manager you will receive technical and commercial support whilst also being encouraged to work autonomously and put your own stamp on the work being delivered.

As an ESIA/SIA Specialist you will be working within the E&S department, managing ESIA projects, leading stakeholder engagement activities as well as community engagement work. You will be contributing to technical social baseline and impact reports, with a focus on the mining industry in emerging economies. Qualifications:

The ESIA/ SIA Specialist will have;

* A relevant degree in an environment-related subject – (postgraduate degree desirable)
* An understanding of and interest in industry, in particular within emerging economies. A focus on the mining sector is preferred;
* Experience in concepts such as Social Licence to Operate (SLO) and Ecosystem services is required;
* Knowledge of specific social challenges in mining industry, namely artisanal and small-scale mining, resettlements and impacts on livelihoods etc;
* Knowledge and technical experience of topics relating to social impact assessment including compliance with international sustainability standards (e.g. IFC Performance Standards or EBRD Performance Requirements);
* An understanding of quantitative research methods in environmental and social sciences;
* An interest in working on international projects in emerging economies;
* A willingness for international travel;
* Language skills – French or Spanish are highly desirable.
