Environmental Scientist

Minimum Years’ experience: 5

Knowledge, skills and experience:

• Undergraduate and or Master’s degree in Environmental Science with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in environmental assessment and appraisal techniques.

• Deep knowledge of water policy in Ireland, including the Water Framework Directive and integrated catchment management.

• Deep knowledge of National and European environmental and water legislation.

• Deep technical knowledge of ecological and environmental impacts and mitigation measures, at project and catchment level.

• Demonstrated appreciation of risk management.

• Strong optioneering, analysis and decision-making skills.

• Demonstrated understanding of environmental economics, including ecosystem services.

• Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions.

• Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team, strong collaborative skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to:

 Liaise with technical experts in Irish Water Environmental Strategy to secure buy-in to assessment approaches.

 Prioritise tasks, work with schedules and manage resources while remaining focused on project goals.

 Secure and compare information from multiple sources and weigh alternative solutions to make informed and appropriate decisions.
