Senior Water Quality Modeller

Minimum Years’ experience: 10

Knowledge, skills and experience:

• Undergraduate and/or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Earth Science or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental assessment and appraisal techniques, with a minimum of 5 years experience in a water quality modelling role.

• Deep knowledge of water policy in Ireland, including the Water Framework Directive and integrated catchment management.

• Deep knowledge of national and European environmental and water legislation.

• Deep technical knowledge of hydraulic, hydrodynamic, dispersion & water quality modelling including demonstrated experience of model build, calibration and validation processes and scenarios analyses using 1D, 2D and 3D modelling tools.

• Demonstrated experience in scoping, management and delivery of water quality modelling studies for a range of size scales in freshwater, transitional and coastal environments, including scoping survey and monitoring campaigns for modelling studies.

• Demonstrated experience in hydrology and/or hydrogeology.

• Strong optioneering, analysis and decision-making skills.

• Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions.

• Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team, strong collaborative skills.

• Demonstrated ability to manage resources to meet project goals.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to disseminate technical findings to internal and external stakeholders and regulators.

Ability to:

 Liaise with technical experts in Irish Water Environmental Strategy to secure buy-in to assessment approaches.

 Prioritise tasks, work with schedules and manage resources while remaining focused on project goals.

 Secure and compare information from multiple sources and weigh alternative solutions to make informed and appropriate decisions.
