Senior Water Networks Design Engineer

The Senior Water Networks Design Engineer will be based in Mallow, will report directly to the Water Networks Performance Specialist and managed locally by the regional lead Coordinator. 

He/she will be in the Options Coordination and Modelling Task Group responsible for the coordination and delivery of National Water Resource asset plans,and will be responsible for the following services (the list is not exhaustive):

• Coordination and delivery of asset plans as part of the role out of the National Water Resources Plan (NWRP) Full Options Assessments

• Supports NWRP task groups namely Options Coordination and Modelling, Technical Advisory and Portfolio Management

• Preparing outline designs including route and site assessments, network sizing (Storage, Pipelines, Pumps etc) as part of the Full Options Assessment process

• Coordinating, organising and participating in technical workshops as part of the NWRP

• Gathering of data in Water Resource Zones on condition of existing water treatment plants and the distribution network.

• Assisting in all NWRP activities in the Options Development (including course screening, fine screening) and Approach Development stages

• Demand forecasting and modelling of water demand consumption as part of scenario analysis linked to growth in the NPF

• Reviewing and validating Supply Demand Balance (SDB) for WRZs over 25 year design horizon

• Using the GIS and models demand allocation from WRZ to the distribution network

• Preparing Asset Plans and Investment Schedules for outline and detailed costing

• Preparing strategic hydraulic design models to validate and refine preferred plans

• Utilisation of Irish Water systems including ArcGIS, metering, Telemetry and the Leakage Management System (LMS)

• Upgrading asset capacity registers (storage, treatment, network)

• Preparation of concise and accurate technical engineering reports, check of and preparing network drawings

• Support key modelling services on behalf of Irish Water (as required)
